Welcome to Stewardship Season!
Please, stop calling it stewardship season! This is a misnomer. The Christian value of stewardship is a year-round endeavor of constantly keeping track of our resources and the gifts we have to share, and then applying a loving heart and a prudent mind to the task of investing those gifts and resources for the good of the community and building up God’s vision for the world.

Forgiveness, Repentance, Reconciliation & Grace
This week we have seen circulating around the internet the footage of Brandt Jean offering his forgiveness to Amber Guyger, the woman who murdered his brother Botham.

The Two Thousand Year-Old Book Club, or Why Bible Study Matters
A lot of people think Episcopalians have no real relationship with Scripture. Because we have historically spent more time with our prayer books than our bibles, there is a misperception that we do not value Scripture or at least the the Bible is subordinate to our prayer books and therefore not central to our faith.

“Remember, I am with you always…”
“Remember,” Jesus says at the end of Matthew’s Gospel – his final words to his disciples – “Remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” And that is a promise – a promise to remember always, to hold on to, amidst the changes which are all around us. What doesn’t change is God’s faithfulness.

And We’re Off!
Tonight and tomorrow—Friday through Saturday—your vestry and I are out at Claggett Camp and Conference Center to eat, pray, and plan together for the coming program year.

Tending the Holy
This past Sunday we did some planning and training together in the sanctuary for our various lay ministries in worship. Today I want to discuss particularly the work of the greeters/ushers, and acolytes/servers.

We should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to thee, O Lord…
But for planning purposes we must decide on specific times to come together to offer our thanks and praise to God as a community in our beloved Trinity Church.

Consider the Lilies
Many thanks to everyone who has responded to my letter last week about changing our worship schedule. My door, inbox, and ears are still open, and I hope more of you will feel free to ask questions, share concerns, and offer suggestions.
