Rev. Henrietta (Rhetta) Wiley,Ph.D., Priest-in-Charge

The Vestry of Trinity Church is pleased to announce the Reverend Henrietta “Rhetta” L. Wiley, Ph.D has accepted the call of the vestry to be Priest-in-Charge.

Rhetta joins Trinity Church after serving as Interim Associate Rector and School Chaplain at St. Martins-in-the-Field, Severna Park, MD. She has served in the Diocese of Maryland for many years. Starting at Emmanuel in downtown Baltimore, then at the Cathedral of the Incarnation and Interim Associate Rector at St. Margaret’s in Annapolis where she worked with their Children and Youth programs.

She is an independent biblical scholar who has taught at both Notre Dame of Maryland University and Denison University, Rhetta holds a BA in Classical Greek from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a PhD from Harvard University in Hebrew Bible.  She also attended seminary at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA, and the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

Rhetta has also served on the Society of Biblical Literature and for many years on the board of the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars and served as a section chair with the Society .

Rhetta lives in Baltimore with her wife Mary. They are proud aunties eight times and counting, and humbly serve as staff for two cats.
