Walking in Love, with Greg Gabell
Dear Friends,
Pledge season is coming. As we get started, I want to invite you to take some time to pray about it, and really meditate on your journey with our congregation at Trinity—our spiritual home. That journey is a walk of love that we make with each other through all the ups and downs of our lives.
I have been inspired by the ways we accompany each other at Trinity. I see how we pray and care for the people in our congregation and how we welcome new people into our midst. I love how we share worship, ministry, and fellowship as we did last Sunday for Homecoming. I have not only watched us support each other but felt the support of every one of you especially this past year. I am proud of our mission to be a caring and diverse, Christ-centered community, and especially how we name our call to create and share opportunities for all people to worship God, serve others, and grow in faith as we travel together on our spiritual journey. This is what it means to walk in love with each other.
To act on Trinity’s mission, we depend on gifts of time, talent, and treasure from our parishioners. This year, to make most effective use of these gifts, the vestry has restructured the budget to overcome the deficits we’ve faced in recent years. The vestry is carefully examining our staffing needs and raising funds from other sources. Still, we cannot realize our mission without strong support from our parishioners.
When he wrote to his friends in Ephesus, Paul reminded them that their community of faith was grounded in Jesus’ self-offering love and urged them—and us—to carry forward that spirit of loving generosity. When we bring our gifts to the altar, we bring our whole selves and share the best part of our love and labor. As you consider what you will share with the Church this year, I encourage you to give thanks for the people at Trinity who have walked with you in love, supported you in your faith, and shared their gifts with you.
Walking with you in Love,
