Walking in Love, with Mother Rhetta

Dear Trinity Family,

Our Trinity mission statement acknowledges that we travel on a journey of faith together. We each have spiritual gifts, but only together can we nurture them and bring them to fruition, because they are intended for building up the church and sharing with the world: they are intended for Love. And so together, as Christ teaches and Paul exhorts us, we Walk in Love.

Your Stewardship Team selected this theme for our 2024 pledge campaign because it taps into what we already know as a congregation. When we walk in love together, God works through us to accomplish more than we can ask or imagine. Alone we may feel anxious about giving freely of ourselves and our resources. When we journey together, we grow bolder for the sake of the Gospel and feel freer to answer Love’s call to generosity of all kinds.

Not every religious tradition practices annual pledging. Different churches rely on different strategies to maintain the people, places, and things that allow them to worship God, serve others, and grow in faith. In the Episcopal Church, we ask everyone to prayerfully discern how much they can give back to God in the coming year, and then to make a pledge to share that amount with their community. This allows our leaders, the Vestry, to prepare a reasonable budget for the coming year.

At Trinity, our pledged gifts make a real and lasting difference in every ministry. Jesus brought about a revolution of heart and mind by walking in love with all those who sought him out. This fall you’ll hear others’ stories of how we Walk in Love with each other here. I encourage you to share your stories of inspiration and connection with our shared ministry. Let us inspire one another to walk in love, gratitude, and generosity together this fall and in the year to come.

in peace,
