But for planning purposes we must decide on specific times to come together to offer our thanks and praise to God as a community in our beloved Trinity Church.
You all have my perpetual gratitude for being honest and open during this very brief time of discernment about our worship schedule. I have heard from many of you through email and have met with individuals as well as with the community these last two Sundays. Everyone has been generous in sharing their concerns, explaining what is most important to them in worship, and describing what helps them feel like Trinity is home. Thank you for making yourselves vulnerable this way so early in our time together.
And so, for the coming year, we will be gathering on Sundays to praise God and celebrate our lord Jesus Christ at the following times:
8:00 am – Holy Eucharist, Rite II, without music.
9:30 am – Holy Eucharist, Rite II, with music:
- 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month with piano and Trinity Glór (my totally unofficial, unsanctioned, unvetted, and unauthorized new name for the music team, that is fully open to revision—glór is Gaelic for voice, sound, call, or music),
- 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month with organ and Trinity Choir,
- Followed by hospitality and Christian formation for all.
- Followed by simple supper and possibly a community activity.
This schedule will begin on Sunday, September 8, 2019.There are still logistical details to be worked out, and we will surely hit bumps in the road, but I am sure that God has great things in store for us. The Spirit is moving at Trinity Episcopal Church, Towson. Thank you for opening your hearts to these changes. A little courage goes a long way toward the building up of God’s Kingdom.
Many thanks to everyone who has responded to my letter last week about changing our worship
